Vinyl 8LP Box Set Presents Remastered Editions of 1970’s Atlantic Studio Recordings Plus Previously Unreleased Outtakes and Booklet
One of the most important figures in twentieth century American music, Charles Mingus was a virtuoso bass player, accomplished pianist, bandleader and composer. When driving a band with his upright bass, Mingus looked – and was – gigantic, in more ways than one. He had huge creative appetites, creating his own combination of hard bop, blues, and avant-garde jazz. He recorded over a hundred albums and wrote over three hundred scores throughout his influential career. In 1973 Atlantic Records began its second period of recording with Mingus, which resulted in seven studio albums. The story of a new phase in Mingus’ music โ his last phase โ begins with the recordings in this vinyl 8LP box set. It features remastered editions of the music legend’s complete 1970’s Atlantic studio recordings including Mingus Moves, Changes One, Changes Two, Three Or Four Shades Of Blue, Cumbia & Jazz Fusion, Me Myself An Eye, and Something Like A Bird plus previously unreleased outtakes of “Big Alice”, “The Call” and “Music For Todo Modo”. There is also an extra set of takes of “Big Alice” and “The Call” on an outtakes disc exclusive to the vinyl format plus an accompanying booklet.
