While continuing collaborations with artists such as Kenny Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and Steve Jansen, David Sylvian’s long-awaited 1999 solo follow-up to 1987’s Secrets of the Beehive also features contributions from guitarist Marc Ribot and tabla player Talvin Singh. Recorded in many locations on both sides of the Atlantic, produced by Sylvian, and documenting an eventful and transformative period in his life, the work is openly celebratory in nature. Virgin now presents an expanded 2LP edition with four bonus tracks that Sylvian intended for the original release, “The Scent of Magnolia,” “Albuquerque (Dobro #6),” “Cover Me With Flowers” and “Aparna and Nimisha (Dobro #5).” The artwork, designed by Chris Bigg, differs from the RSD edition featuring a cover portrait by David’s ex-wife, Ingrid Chavez, with additional rare photographs by Anton Corbijn.
