The PMA- 600NE incorporates Advanced High Current (AHC) transistors with two-to-three times the electrical current supply capacity of conventional audio power transistors. The acclaimed Denon AHC single-push-pull circuit allows for a discrete amplifier in the PMA-600NE, producing powerful sound with musical fidelity. Denon’s engineers carefully constructed the amplifier circuit within the PMA-600NE to secure a frequency response of up to 100 kHz during applied use. You can turn on Analog Mode to close power to the dedicated digital power source and stop operation of the digital input and Bluetooth circuity, thus avoiding any high-frequency influence on the analog section of the PMA-600NE. The result is that you can relax and enjoy your favorite analog sources with uninhibited clarity and detailed reproduction.

The PMA-600NE has a built-in phono preamp (aka equalizer) that supports playing vinyl with a MM cartridge. This phono equalizer has high gain — and unlike the loops in other circuit board patterns, which can cause adverse effects on sound quality — the simple, straightforward design of the PMA-600NE significantly improves sound. Plus, this amp has a headphone jack if you want to get totally lost in the music. The front-panel tone controls for treble and bass allow you to adjust the sound to suit your preferences. A remote control is also included.

To eliminate interference and maintain exceptional sound quality, the main power transformer of the PMA-600NE has separate coiled wires for the audio and control circuits. The micro-processor of the PMA-600NE features a Stop Mode that automatically ceases all operations of the micro-processor when it’s not needed for playback. By stopping the oscillation of the micro-processor clock during these listening moments, the audio signal is protected from external noise; this greatly enhances sound quality.

The Signal Level Divided Construction (SLDC) chassis developed by Denon is used in the audio circuit to ensure that delicate musical signals are faithfully amplified and transmitted to the loudspeakers. Denon’s Origin Story

Denon has a long history of innovation. Founded by American entrepreneur Frederick Whitney Horn in association with Japanese partners, Nippon Denki Onkyo Kabushikigaisha (which literally translates to “Japan Electric Sound Company”) first came into existence in 1910 as part of Nippon Chikuonki Shokai (the Japan Recorders Corporation). Two words — “denki,” the Japanese word for “electric,” and “onkyo,” the Japanese word for “sound” — would become essential for the future of the company.

At the time, the parent company was making single-sided recording discs and gramophones, which until then were used for little more than voice recording. This era was about 30 years after Thomas Edison had invented his phonograph (1877), which “wrote sound” onto a wax cylinder. Emile Berliner had only recently started the transition from cylinders to the lateral-cut flat disc, in the process coining the term “gramophone.”

The new company became not only the first consumer audio manufacturer to sell a gramophone, but also Japan’s first record company. This history illustrates how Denon — as the name of the company soon became in the 1930s, taking the first syllables of “denki” and “onkyo” — has long been at the forefront of technology. Denon has manufactured not only the equipment to reproduce music, but it also has been a key part of the recording process.
